The course develops the specialist knowledge and practical skills required to support patients, staff and visitors safely and securely, including during patient bed watch duties and within the wider hospital environment. Key areas include the role and responsibilities of a Healthcare Security Officer, relevant legislation, patient risk assessment and observation, safeguarding and patient rights, mental health and dementia awareness, infection control, conflict resolution, and personal safety and physical intervention techniques.
