Healthcare Security Partnership with Kettering General Hospital

Case Study

Over seven years of collaborative security partnership and protective security leadership

SGC Security Services has worked in partnership with Kettering General Hospital (KGH) for over seven years, delivering a professional, fully managed security service within one of the most challenging and dynamic operating environments in the public sector.

Since mobilisation in April 2019, SGC has developed a strong and collaborative relationship with KGH, working closely with Trust stakeholders to provide a security solution that supports clinical priorities while protecting patients, visitors, staff, assets and the wider hospital environment.

Our partnership approach is built on trust, transparency and continuous improvement. By integrating closely with hospital teams, SGC provides more than a traditional security service; we act as a trusted partner supporting operational resilience, patient safety and the evolving security requirements of the NHS.

A key example of this approach was SGC’s organisation and delivery of a Martyn’s Law Readiness Webinar on the 14th May 2026, bringing together over 320 healthcare and security professionals to improve awareness, preparedness and collaboration around protective security legislation.

The Challenge

Kettering General Hospital is a busy acute NHS Trust operating 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, providing essential healthcare services to the local community.

The security service operates within a complex environment requiring a highly professional, compassionate and responsive approach, including:

  • High volumes of patients, visitors, contractors and staff
  • 24/7 clinical operations with critical services running continuously
  • Sensitive areas requiring proportionate security measures
  • Incidents involving aggression, conflict, vulnerability and safeguarding concerns
  • The need for effective access control, emergency response and visible reassurance
  • Close integration between security teams, clinical departments, estates and operational management

Healthcare security requires more than physical protection; it requires officers who understand the importance of empathy, communication and supporting a positive patient experience.

Service Delivery & Partnership

SGC provide a comprehensive managed security service designed around the operational needs of KGH, including:

  • 24/7 security officer provision
  • Access control and visitor management
  • Internal and external security patrols
  • Incident response and emergency support
  • Conflict management, prevention and de-escalation
  • Support to Accident & Emergency and other higher-risk clinical areas
  • CCTV and alarm monitoring where applicable
  • Incident reporting, intelligence gathering and trend analysis
  • Regular operational checks, audits and compliance reviews

The service is supported by experienced operational management, clear escalation processes and ongoing engagement with Trust stakeholders.

The partnership is built on collaborative working, strong governance and reporting, continuous improvement, joint problem solving and alignment with NHS operational priorities.

Outcomes & Added Value
