On 26th September 2025, SGC Security Services had the honour of sponsoring the Welsh Language Award at the Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board (BCUHB) Achievement Awards.
This annual event shines a light on individuals and teams across the Welsh NHS who make an outstanding difference to patient care, innovation, and community wellbeing. For us, it was a privilege to be part of a celebration that highlights the importance of language, culture, and connection in healthcare.
The Welsh Language Award recognises exceptional efforts to promote and deliver services in Welsh, ensuring patients and families can communicate comfortably and confidently in their preferred language.
Honouring the Speech and Language Therapy Team
This year’s winners were the Speech and Language Therapy Team covering Gwynedd and Anglesey. Their ongoing dedication to promoting Welsh within healthcare has transformed how services are delivered in their region.
By supporting staff to strengthen their Welsh language skills the team ensures that patients can access treatment, advice, and support in the language that feels most natural to them. This not only improves understanding but also encourages active participation in care decisions.
The team also works closely with Bangor University and implements an action plan based on the Welsh Government’s “More Than Words…” strategy – which promotes the everyday use of Welsh across health and social care. Their efforts have created a workplace culture where bilingual communication is celebrated and supported.
