Description
The Project Manager will be based in Birmingham on a temporary six-month contract, working full-time on-site. The role involves overseeing all aspects of site operations during both the construction and decommissioning phases, ensuring that projects are completed safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality and compliance.
The position requires approximately 10 hours per day, Monday to Friday, with occasional weekend work depending on project demands.
The Project Manager will report directly to the client and will play a key role in coordinating teams, managing resources, and maintaining effective communication across all stakeholders. The salary for this role is £40,000 per year.
Skills and Experience
Qualifications (Required):
- HNC/HND in Building Studies or equivalent experience
- Construction Management or technical NVQ/SVQ Level 6 or 7
- Relevant CSCS Card
- Scaffold Inspection training
- Temporary works co-ordinator/supervisor training
- First Aid at Work
- Gas Safety Awareness
- Asbestos Manager (P405)
- Safe Working at Height
- SMSTS
Desirable:
- City & Guilds Trade qualification
- Microsoft Office or other IT-related qualification
Other Skills:
- Ability to read, review, and sign off RAMS and work permits
Duties/Responsibilities
Promote teamwork and customer-focused service delivery
Compile all pre-start information and structured project planning (H&S, quality, execution methods)
Provide project direction, focus, KPIs, and weekly programme updates
Supervise site team and ensure health & safety compliance
Manage site safety, quality control, and SHEQ requirements
Liaise with the client and coordinate with sub-contractors
Apply for licences/permits, ensure welfare facilities are in place
Prepare and report at project-related meetings
Monitor project pricing, variations, and opportunities to maximise profit
Resolve difficulties collaboratively and non-adversarially
Ensure company systems and values are adhered to
Provide financial control information and absence cover
Recommend performance improvements using KPI analysis
Escalate issues proactively to Project Managers
Conduct checks on plant/equipment, oversee isolations under authorised person capacity
Ensure accurate reporting and completion of allocated works in company IT system
Liaise with other supervisors/managers for effective resolution of issues
Carry out other related duties as required by the business
