Back in 2006, our founder and Managing Director, Paul Macarthur, had a vision to build a Security company with a difference. Before he started considering the concept of creating SGC Security, Paul spent many years working in the industry. During that time, he experienced both the good and not so good aspects that a job in security can offer. As a result, he believed that there was an opportunity to provide both clients and staff with a better option.

Armed with a phone and a passion, the plans were set in motion to create the organisation that is known today as SGC. A company that now provides Security and Crowd Management Services to long-term clients ranging from the NHS to several football clubs. SGC Security Services also has a keen interest in offering individuals a stable career in the industry, ensuring that each member of staff is sufficiently trained and looked after.

It was clear from Day 1 that Paul was committed to quality when delivering Security Services. SGC became an accredited company on the SIA ACS; year on year improving its annual assessment scoring. The current score placing SGC in the top 5% of SIA ACS companies in the UK.

During the past 17 years Paul has been a well-respected voice within the industry. SGC became a founder member of The Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority, IPSA, meanwhile Paul has sat on the SIA steering committee for the South of England for the ACS accreditation. Further demonstrating the position that both Paul and his company hold within the industry.

SGC Security Services has worked on some of the biggest crowd management projects in the UK, many of which SGC have provided for several years if not longer! It is not uncommon for these long-term clients to become friends of the business as the working relationship grows and develops into a true partnership.

When Paul was asked to reflect on the last 17 years, he was asked what he is most proud of. Paul replied that his greatest satisfaction has been watching the business grow into what is now a respected provider of Security and Crowd Safety solutions. However, most of all, he is proud of how the individuals within the business have grown and continue to grow. Many are still here, some have moved on, but all have grown and developed due to the standards and foundations that the company is built on.
